15 December 2012

Singapore – On 15 December 2012, an inaugural cohort of 19 students graduated with a Master of Business Administration in Aviation (MBAA), from the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA). The MBAA programme, launched by SAA in 2011, and held in collaboration with the Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), equips students with in-depth practical management skills and core competencies applicable to the aviation business environment. Aside from a detailed academic programme, the students also participated in active group discussions, and received valuable industry knowledge during their close interactions with SAA professors and guest lecturers.

“The learning elements provided by SAA, drawing on the CAAS’ accumulated experience in aviation governance, regulation and the wider expertise of Singapore, have further enhanced the understanding on the practical issues involved in managing a wide spectrum of aviation functions and specialisation,” said Mr Lee Yuen Hee, Deputy Secretary (International) for the Ministry of Transport in his opening address.

Mr Sanjeev Upadhiah, a First Officer with Tiger Airways, was one of the four who graduated with a distinction with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0. He noted that his learning experience while enrolled in the programme was tremendously vast. “I got a wide range of inputs from my classmates in the aviation industry. Each component of the dynamic aviation industry was represented in my course.”
