SAA Aviation Insight Series on Weather Risk Management for Improved Flight Safety

On 2 April, over 60 aviation industry personnel attended the talk under the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA) Aviation Insight Series (AVIS) on Weather Risk Management for Improved Flight Safety.

Sharing the session was Mr John Dutcher, Safety, Quality and Meteorology Consultant. Mr Dutcher provided insight into how weather can be a heavy cost to aircraft operations and that every stakeholder, from weather forecasters, pilots, air traffic controllers and airport operators have a role to play in helping to manage weather impacts to enhance flight safety and efficiency of airport operations.

Mr Dutcher also suggested the implementation of a weather risk management system which can be designed to enhance decision-making in the face of hazardous weather conditions encountered at all phases of a flight.

Ms Lim Lay Eng, Senior Inspector (Meteorology) of Aerodrome & Air Navigation Service Regulation Division, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, was the moderator for the Questions and Answers session.
