Third EASA International Cooperation Forum

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) organised its third International Cooperation Forum (ICF -3) in Singapore from 15 to 17 November 2011. The Forum was held at the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA), hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).The first and second EASA International Cooperation Forum were held in Cologne, Germany and Dubai, UAE in 2008 and 2010, respectively. 
     
Some 100 delegates representing civil aviation regulatory organisations from around the world attended the Forum. The ICF-3 featured updates on a number of key developments in aviation safety in Europe, as well as safety initiatives in other regions. A series of thematic workshops also provided delegates with the opportunity for constructive dialogue on four contemporary issues:  Regional Safety Oversight Organisations (RSOO); Technical cooperation in the form of organisational support; Meeting ICAO requirements for the implementation of State Safety Programmes; and Surveillance of foreign air operators.

A welcome reception was hosted by Mr Yap Ong Heng, Director-General of CAAS at the Marina at Keppel Bay in the evening of 15 November 2011. 

As part of the ICF programme, CAAS took the opportunity to showcase Singapore‚Äôs aerospace industry, by organising a visit to the Singapore Aero Engine Services Limited (SAESL), a Rolls-Royce and SIA Engineering joint venture company that performs maintenance, repair and overhaul work on aircraft engines.
