Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS)
On 13 February 2012, The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) signed an MOU on aviation safety co-operation, signed by Executive Director of the European Aviation Safety Agency Mr Patrick Goudou and the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Mr Yap Ong Heng.
The MOU between EASA and CAAS represents both sides’ commitment to advance their shared interests of enhancing aviation safety. Specifically, the MOU will extend the collaborative ties between both sides in areas of mutual interest such as training, sharing of safety information, joint research and other forms of technical cooperation such as airworthiness certifications. Both sides have also started to explore specific training programmes such as joint workshops on EASA’s Third Country Operator (TCO) programme and Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA).
The signing ceremony held at Raffles City Convention Centre also witnessed the signing of two other transport agreements between the European Commission and Singapore, signed by Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Lui Tuck Yew, namely; MOU on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and a Letter of Intent, signed between the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research Joint Undertaking (SESAR JU) and CAAS.
The three agreements aim to enhance bilateral relations in the transport sector.
